I agree with sis.Sura H[censored]an. I have to narrate a folklore here. A women went to God and told him that her child is now one year old, when she should start disciplining her child. God said you are one year late. Our youths are the pictures of their family - but that does not mean that we have to point our fingers at them. It is our religious obligation to raise our own standards by action so that we may draw them into our circle.

I don't think Facebook is the problem, as there are lots of good things going on there as well - including people learning about Islam, people organizing to do things to help people, people holding Islamic meetings across distances, etc. I just think it and other social networking sites reflect what is already there in the society, perhaps more vividly than before, as many of today's youth live largely public lives online, and maybe need to be more cautious about that for many reasons, only one of which would be the public display of sins leading to apparent acceptance of immoral behavior. We now see reports that people have job applications or college applications rejected based upon what review committees find on social networking sites and Google searches. And perhaps rightfully so - what you put on Facebook, etc., is a public persona and is not private, and if people are willing to show themselves to the world behaving badly than they should be prepared to face consequences for their actions and open display of bad behavior.
