Salam,
Firstly would like to thank you bro for the enlightening piece,

Secondly i just want to mention that i didn’t know such segregation occurred!! i live in NewZealand and the main centre that we attend (and most others in the area) is a multicultural centre, where the common language is English, and in muharam we have eulogies from all the different languages. And it is beautiful to have such a mix of shia muslims all under the same ahlul bayt centre, inshAllah your centres around the west unite!

Salaam
I'm soo happy this article was written. I loved that it addressed the issues that we all know exist but have difficulty addressing.

I dont think that every Shi'a has to necessarily take on a medium of beliefs. meaning that yes you can believe that the US is a taghut, or you can believe that working within the system leads to many benefits. There is no reason to condemn/polarize ourselves over this issue--the maraja system does not forbid us to work within our system nor does it ask Muslims to pull away from the mainstream. If you don't feel comfortable working for/with the government, then don't and become active in other platforms. If you feel its an effective medium and you have the okay from your marja then go for it. It's that simple

We should not condemn others for disagreeing if they''re not doing anything haraam or anything that is considered haraam by the marja they follow.

Great job Arsalan Masha'Allah! - Shereen

Go to all the centres rather than stick to one of them and encourage others to do the same by your word, example and good demeanor - especially the youth. And count your blessings that you have centres at all, alhumdooleluh. - masooma

what do you do when you have 5 different centres in one small area vying for the same people's attention? how do you differentiate between their goals and intentions? how do you unite such people?
im speaking on a general note, how do you unite the unwilling and disheartened? - kish

Sallams,
Ammazing job, m'A. A much needed topic to be discussed in these times of disunity and strife. It's important to realize unity doesn't mean to lose your identity and become similar to the other group. If that's the case, then there's no question for unity in the first place - because the two groups have become one. The idea is more for Unity in Diversity, where you can appreciate the other party and respect their views without forgetting your own values or compromising your own beliefs.

Jazakallah for an ammazing piece ;D

Thank you ARsalan for brining this to our attention. Perfect timing might I add ;)...

I just wanted to stress the ever important quranic verse "O Mankind, We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other." - ~55

Salaam,

Great article!! We're reminded time and again in the Quran and our Imams (especially Imam Ali's death will) that Allah will never help people that are disunited amongst themselves, His blessings will not reach them, and no matter how much they pray to Him their duas will not be accepted.

Thank you for examining the different realms closely; it's indeed a shame to have these things within our Shia community especially since Fatima Zahra (sa) had said: "The Imamate exists for the sake of preserving order among the Muslims and replacing their disunity with unity." If we value our Imams we would never be disunited. Thanks again for this wonderful piece! - Rabab Jaffery
